With the localization of DCPD-RIM raw materials, China's PDCPD industry has experienced rapid development. Currently, molding companies have transitioned from intermittent production dependent on weather conditions (less production in winter and summer) to production under all climatic conditions. However, many companies lack the necessary hardware facilities to meet the production requirements for PDCPD-RIM, leading to numerous defects during the molding process, especially in cold winter weather. Special reminders are as follows:
DCPD-RIM composite raw materials are heterogeneous mixtures primarily composed of DCPD。 Prolonged static storage can cause stratification, particularly in cold weather, where crystallization may occur, leading to separation. Therefore, in low-temperature conditions, raw materials should be preheated in a constant-temperature room at 25°C for 1–3 days in advance. Before opening the containers, they should be thoroughly rolled and shaken (or using a specialized rolling mixer) to ensure uniform feeding and accurate formulation proportions.
The injection material temperature control range should be maintained at 23±3°C. If the injection temperature is too low, the viscosity of Components A and B will increase significantly, affecting injection feeding and leading to inaccurate metering or imbalanced injection ratios. Additionally, low injection temperatures can result in incomplete molecular encapsulation reactions, increased bubble defects, severely reduced curing degrees, multi-directional curing, decreased part performance, amplified part odor, and mold fouling, among other issues.
If the production environment temperature is too low, the injection cycle will cause the raw materials in the equipment pipelines to cool too quickly. Relying solely on temperature control units is insufficient to maintain the raw material temperature. It is recommended to insulate the equipment and pipelines and place the entire injection system in an environment maintained at 15–30°C to ensure smooth production.
Four recommendations:
① Establish a constant-temperature room for raw material pre-treatment.
② Implement a rolling operation mechanism and use specialized rolling mixing equipment.
③ Apply insulation treatment to injection equipment and pipelines.
④ Maintain an appropriate ambient temperature in the workshop production equipment operation area.
